Harnessing the

Power of Your Knees

A Practical Guide for LMTs

Class Description

In this workshop, Licensed Massage Therapists will learn how to effectively incorporate their knees into their massage techniques to improve body mechanics, enhance pressure control, and reduce physical strain on their own bodies. Using the knees strategically can offer deeper, more sustained pressure while preserving the therapist's strength and energy throughout a session.

Throughout the workshop, we will explore various techniques, including the application of knee pressure in deep tissue, Myofascial release, the communication needed during a session, and draping techniques. Participants will also learn how to position their bodies properly to maximize leverage and ensure safe, effective delivery of pressure using the knees.

Key Takeaways

  • Understanding the anatomy and biomechanics of using your knees during massage.

  • Practical exercises to incorporate knee use into existing modalities (e.g., Swedish, deep tissue, and sports massage).

  • Strategies for creating more sustainable, efficient body mechanics to reduce therapist fatigue.

  • How to modify techniques for different client needs and body types.

  • Ethical considerations and how to maintain client comfort while using knees in massage.

Join us to build confidence and expand your toolkit with techniques that promote both therapist longevity and client satisfaction!
